  1. Human Rights: Non-Discrimination and Social Justice

NNDSWO works for the protection and promotion of human rights of Dalit and vulnerable groups with special focus on right to nondiscrimination and social justice. It advocates for the elimination of caste based discrimination and untouchability through awareness raising, campaigning, civic education, networking, legal support and case monitoring, fact finding and litigation.

  1. Democratic Governance: Inclusion and Accountability

NNDSWO’s actions promote the participation of Dalit and excluded groups in decision making and governance processes and bring about changes in behavior and actions of duty bearers and stakeholders for strengthened democratic governance. Local capacity development, citizenship and voters’ rights campaign, foster interface between people, leaders and duty-bearers, alliance building, practice social accountability tools, and engaging people in local governance and budget processes are the key interventions.

  1. Education: Access to education and life skills

NNDSWO works for protecting right to education of Dalit and vulnerable groups through formal and non-formal way. Increasing school enrolment, retention and survival rates and improving learning achievements of target groups by providing scholarship package and connecting those needy to government and private scholarship schemes are the efforts of the organization towards this end.

  1. Livelihood Empowerment

NNDSWO’s intervention under this theme focuses on empowering Dalit and vulnerable community to access and benefit from livelihood opportunities and generate evidences for advocating livelihood rights. Self-help Initiatives, skill training, small IGA including technical and financial inputs, and linkage support for enhancing livelihood assets are key interventions to improve household level income and reduce vulnerability. NNDSWO’s interventions for improving water, sanitation, and hygiene is also integrated with livelihood.

  1. Research and Publications

NNDSWO believes in evidence based advocacy, therefore it has been conducting various researches and producing reports as well as publishing IEC materials on different themes. These have become effective tools to aware public and policy makers and influence wider stakeholders on the issues of caste based discrimination and untouchability and Dalit rights

  2. GESI: NNDSWO integrates gender equality and social inclusion in all programme interventions and institutional development plan. It is addressed in every stage of programme cycle management.
  3. Conflict Transformation: NNDSWO adopts and promotes non-confrontational and evidence-based advocacy for the justice of all at all levels by mobilizing the support and solidarity of stakeholders minimizing the potential caste conflicts.
  4. HIV/AIDS and Right to Health: NNDSWO works with most vulnerable groups who are deprived of health facilities too which is their fundamental rights. HIV/AIDS issues are advocated by best utilizing the capacity of experienced district chapters
  5. Youth Participation: NNDSWO empowers and mobilizes youth in social transformation dialogue as they are crucial for changing ‘‘attitudes’’ and ‘‘behavior’’ with regard to caste based discrimination and untouchability against Dalit.
  6. Reducing Vulnerability to Disaster Risk: Dalit and socially discriminated groups are much more vulnerable during the time of disaster. NNDSWO advocates for non-discrimination in disaster response and equitable humanitarian services and participation in DRR mechanisms and initiatives.
