Recognition of Dalits' right in the laws and favorable policies would give space for the Dalits to exercise their right and make claim in the resources and services provided by the state as well as participate in the decision making political entities such as political parties and parliament. For enacting pro-Dalits laws and policies, representation of Dalits in the political sphere and the state's structure (parliament, judiciary and government's bureaucracy) would be instrumental. Therefore NNDSWO would largely invest in enhancing its membership-base structure and make claim for pro-Dalits laws and policies as well as lobby and promote for increased Dalit's representation in the state's mechanis
2. Dalit Human Rights Promotion
The present socio cultural structure and discriminatory practices restrict Dalits from actively participation in the social sphere and exercise their right as a human being. Therefore NNDSWO will aggressively promote the participation of Dalits in the social sphere as well as their integration in the larger social structure by advocating against the discriminatory practices as legally prohibited and humanly unacceptable.
3. Legal Intervention
After the abolition of Old Muliki Ain with the establishment of New Country Code of 1963, and other provision of the Constitution of 1990 and international treaties and laws protecting the rights of the excluded groups, there still are few discriminatory laws, rules and regulations. NNDWSO will take legal services from legal experts to create non-discriminatory laws and regulations and largely invest in enhancing its knowledge base to directly engage in research based advocacy for pro-Dalits laws and policies.
4. Livelihood Focus
Due to lack of economic opportunities, landlessness, labour exploitation and ignorance to their occupational skills, Dalits are very poor and vulnerable. In order to address this problem, NNDSWO will focus on livelihood in its programmes in order to enhance Dalit people’s capability in earning a decent living.
5. Education and Capacity Development
Years of subordination in addition to their present poor socio-economic and living conditions has eroded capacity and confidence of the Dalits to explore their full potential and live a productive and dignified life. Therefore, NNDSWO will directly invest in empowering Dalits through ensuring access to education (especially providing scholarship to Dalits) for educating themselves and providing training opportunities. NNDSWO will also manage other forms of education to enhance their capacity to voice their right to these basic services and larger human, social and political right.
6. Membership, Network Expansion and Organization Development
To successfully operationalise the above strategies and achieve the intended results NNDSWO will strengthen and expand its membership base and collaborate with other like-minded organisations and networks in actively working for the cause of Dalits. NNDSWO will also proactively generate resources to strengthen its structure, system and process as well as capacity building and human resources for enhanced programme intervention (both in terms of reach and impact) and positioning itself in a strategic position to remain competitive and relevant for effectively representing the issues and interest of Dalits
